Being a carrier of God with humility.

Let God exalt you.

In a world that is increasingly more and more self-focused, how do you embrace humility? We all know Jesus called us to be humble but what does humility really look like in someone’s life? How often do we see it portrayed?

As Christians, we are called to be carriers of God by bringing Him everywhere we go, but we are to do this with humility. I feel like there is a real trend these days that encourages us to make ourselves known not so much for the sake of Christ being magnified but for the sake of creating a presence for ourselves.

Don’t get me wrong, I know God can use someone in a mighty way but let us not confuse our ambitions with His specific calling for our lives. We need to be really honest with our motive when it comes to doing something for God. I also believe that it is wrong to force your way into something. Let God guide you through circumstances and through His voice. When the time is right, He will enlarge your sphere of influence.

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

    Very well said. I find a general lack of humility in a large part of the “Christian” community. It’s one of the things I address, occasionally, in my blog.

    1. Thank you for the feedback, Jeff! I’m happy to hear there are more people who think the same. Keep staying true to God!

    Your post resonates deeply. Converting from Catholicism to Christianity later in life, I felt a rush of joy and eagerness to serve. I wanted to immerse myself in church activities, to be seen and recognized by God. I longed to be like those around me, perhaps even aspiring to become a pastor. Yet, at 47, I knew some aspirations were unrealistic.

    Then, a wise brother in Christ intervened, urging me to cease dictating my desires to God and instead allow Him to reveal His plan for me. He warned of missing my true calling by imposing my own will. So, I paused, surrendered my ambitions, and in doing so, discovered a multitude of tasks the Lord had in store for me. Yet, amidst the busyness, I’ve encountered moments of exhaustion, prompting me to jestingly remark on the adage, “be careful what you wish for.” Nonetheless, I harbor no regrets; every endeavor has been a testament to His grace and guidance.

    Psalm 25:5
    Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
    For You are the God of my salvation;
    For You I wait all the day.

    1. Thank you so much for an excellent comment! I appreciate your thoughts Willie. God bless you brother!
