Do you rest?

The simple yet profound truth about resting.

It is so important to take time to rest daily. Yes, we need to get enough sleep but we also need to have at least a designated moment of rest throughout the day.

Jesus knew how quickly we can run out of clarity and get depleted of spiritual fervor, and He set a powerful example for us on the pages of scripture. Again and again, we find the writers of the New Testament carefully write about how He intentionally protected His rest by making sure He always went back to the Source of His assignment- The Father.

It can be hard to rewire our mind to be able to rest in the chaotic world we live in, when our senses are continually assaulted through our phones, the media, and even the people around us. But we are not called to live in the rhythm of this world, we have been empowered to live in the rhythm of the Holy Spirit, if we so choose.

There is so much fulfillment in setting your phone aside, going to a quiet place, and at times just sit in God’s presence. Other times just listening to uplifting instrumental music and praying in the Spirit. Sometimes, reading a simple Bible verse in quietness while allowing our mind to rest can do for us more than hours of therapy or self-care. Do not live life without resting. The world might try to convince you there’s no other way but you and I were never created to live without plugging back into our Source, Jesus Christ.

And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭33‬:‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
