A most fulfilling existence!
If you’ve been reading my blog for quite a while, I’m sure you’ve noticed that I’ve been focusing on the death of self again and again. It’s something God started telling me about a couple years ago and I couldn’t help but write about it from different angles again and again. There were times when I felt so confused as to what it really meant in my own life and how I could allow God to work the death of self in me. This might sound illogical, but it’s the exact call of Christ– He calls us to deny ourselves. This is a denial of the flesh, of that part of us that is so ugly because it’s been stained by sin; yet it’s so appealing because we are fallen without the Spirit of Christ, which gives us life. So, today, I want to share with you a little bit about this death as it’s becoming more and more clear in my mind and heart and I can start seeing the fruits of its beauty displayed through my life. It’s so amazing when you truly live the Word of God. IT TAKES YOUR BREATH AWAY! I’ve been thinking about how important it is to take every thought captive and to not allow fleshly desires and thoughts to take control of you. As you think, so you are- so you become. Be careful with those thoughts that oppose the yoke Christ wants us to carry- the yoke of gentleness and humility. It’s such a light burden. It can’t even be called a yoke, if I can dare to say. It’s absolutely fulfilling but you have to stay alert and fight to remain pure every second of every day. I can’t believe it’s just so beautiful and so true…!
