Joyful surrender.

Choosing God’s will above your own.

the beauty of gentleness

When I look back on my life, I can now see clearly that it was during the hardest times when God molded me the most. Those were the times when surrendering was the hardest thing to do. It’s not easy to accept loss, pain, and disappointment, but we encounter God best in the midst of those circumstances. Surrender is never easy but that shouldn’t make it dreadful. It is the highest privilege to entrust ourselves into the strong and loving hands of the Weaver even when it hurts because He knows best. When you look around and all you can see is uncertainty, be certain of one thing- God is at work. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you (Isaiah 43:2). When everything seems to go against what you wanted, be sure of this- God’s plans for you are good. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9).And when you feel the crushing weight of your fear and it seems like you will soon collapse, you won’t- God will supply you with the strength you need for the next step. Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10). Sometimes He doesn’t change our situation immediately but if we surrender to His will, He changes us, and that is more than we could ask for! I have found so much encouragement from knowing that the trial I’m going through will bless me in ways that being at ease or in control never could. How faithful God is in molding us into the image of Christ and how real is the joy of trusting His will! It’s easy to have joy when things go our way but how blessed we are when we find joy in the midst of the fire because God is there with us and that’s all that matters- finding Him! I have found unlimited strength when I came to the end of myself and I was so amazed by the power that flows through our lives because of Christ! When there was no logical reason for joy in the midst of my circumstances, I have found the surest source of joy- Jesus Christ and I was so very satisfied! My feet were firmly planted on the Rock because I turned to the Word and didn’t listen to the voice of my feelings or the threats of the enemy. Surrendering to the will of our Father and letting go of our own is a sure way to die to ourselves and to experience the fulfillment of living a life like Christ did because He was always surrendered to the will of the Father. The truest joy is found in doing God’s will. Don’t live your life under the limitation of self. Choose surrender today!

The Weaver

My life is but a weaving
Between my Lord and me,
I cannot choose the colors
He worketh steadily.
Oftimes He weaveth sorrow,
And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper
And I, the underside
Not till the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Shall God unroll the canvas
And explain the reason why
The dark threads are as needful
In the Weaver’s skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned
He knows, He loves, He cares,
Nothing this truth can dim-
He gives His very best to those
Who leave the choice with Him.
