Don’t be content with little!
Life can keep us so busy and it sometimes seems absolutely normal to just exist. We go to work, come home, and go to sleep just to wake up and do it all over again. Our days can pile up one after another without us rising above the daily grind of life. If we ever experienced God in the past, we can’t help but find ourselves longing for more. We feel powerless. Lifeless. We often feel defeated and wish we lived a more fulfilling existence. It’s not pleasing to God to be content with the state we are in and we shouldn’t accept it as the norm for our lives even though it is the norm for most Christians today. We know a lot about God, but do we know God? Do we truly walk hand in hand with Him on a daily basis? If we don’t commit to pursuing God out of sincerity and not out of routine or duty, the years will slip by and we will continue in the state we are in. Even if we start pursuing God the right way, sometimes our progress seems slow but if we do not grow weary, we will find God in a fresh, new way, all over again. We need to strive to give importance to the reality of eternity and to live our lives in light of it. There is such a strong pull from the world to live our lives for the here and now and to run after meaningless pursuits. Women come against the temptation to focus more on their outward appearance than the inward person of the heart while men are tempted to depend on themselves and their own strength than to admit their inability before God. All the trivial pursuits that are thrown our way will one day vanish like smoke. Only eternal treasures will last forever. Our faith, our hope, and our love will never perish. Often God makes me aware of how fleeting life is as I see the years pass by like a faint sound. I have also often felt disappointment with the way I have pursued God through the years. We get so caught up in the things of this world, and the flesh inside us fights so hard to keep us from living out the fruit of the Spirit. Even the struggles of daily responsibilities can weigh down our soul and if we’re not careful to live purposefully for God, we will so easily steer clear from our true calling. God wants us to experience Him in real and abundant ways and revival doesn’t only happen on special church occasions, but should be something we seek after on a daily basis. God wants to be close to us and He wants us to experience Him more than we usually do. We should never settle for little from Him. He is never content with little from us either. He wants us to be consecrated to Him, to always give Him our all. We can so easily live our lives without truly being devoted to Him like we should. When we make it our daily focus to hear from God no matter what our circumstances, life takes on a whole new dimension. Suddenly we start to let God be in control and it’s no longer about us, but about Him. We need to kneel quietly before God daily and to make that posture the attitude of our heart. If we fail to do so, we will be utterly unfit to rise above a mediocre existence and to live in the beauty of His destiny for us. May we never miss out on all God has for us!
I very much enjoyed reading your thoughts! Amen, may we yearn for more and not settle for anything less than all He has for us in relationship with HIm!
