A moment of stillness (61).

What drives you?

I saw that all labor and all skillful work is due to one person’s jealousy of another. This too is futile and a pursuit of the wind. Ecclesiastes 4:4

Humans are competitive in nature. We have a strong tendency to compare ourselves to one another and it’s a fierce force that drives our lives. Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, came to understand that jealousy is what often fuels our work and passion. It’s sad to come to this realization but isn’t it true? What a meaningless pursuit! If jealousy is what fuels us, we will never ever be content with our results. Jealousy is a lie that never stops growing. God is calling on all Christians to come out of the cycle of the world and to pursue humility. Only God can help us have the right attitude in our pursuits. May our lives no longer be a futile chase after the wind!
