Most forgotten verse.

Then he said to them all, “If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.” Luke 9:23

I thought I knew that the Christian life revolves around this verse but how little I understood it. In our struggle to understand the confusion we face on our journey of following Christ, these words are the last ones we think about. We fail to understand that we are called to deny ourselves, not to listen to ourselves. We are also called to carry our cross daily, which implies something strenuous. Following Christ was never meant to be easy, especially when our ego is flourishing but it is the only true way. It is Christ’s way to abundant life for us.
