Bible Study (day 1)

He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. Hebrews 1:3a (ESV)

When God sent Jesus to us, in a very real sense He sent His very self. That’s why we read here that Jesus is the exact imprint of His nature. When people observed Jesus’s ways, they were looking upon the Father. Everything we find of Christ in the Bible radiates the very nature of God. It is so heart-warming to understand the goodness of God in sending Jesus to us as a living, breathing portrayal of His character. Christ also upholds the universe by the word of His power. When our world seems to crumble underneath our feet, Jesus upholds us. The whole world is established, it will never be moved unless He decides to move it. One Word from Jesus is enough to shake an entire universe. Our lives are being upheld by the very same Word of His power! Do not be afraid.

Like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end. Hebrews 1:12 (ESV)

The earth and the heavens came into existence by the very Word of Jesus Christ. One day, everything will perish but He will remain. They will be rolled up like a scroll of old, and will fade away like a worn-out piece of clothing. Everything will one day wear out. Jesus is and will remain forever the same. He has no end! What strong comfort this is to us- in a world that shakes and changes by the second. Yet, these are not times to fear but times to know that we, who have put our hope in Christ, are being upheld by His Word. Exalt Jesus above all and He will forever hold you completely together. Our hearts, our minds, our bodies- everything that we are is being upheld by His very Word of unimaginable power. We will always be safe with Christ because His Word is forever!

Christ identifies with us exactly as with the Father. We are one in him. ‘If so be the Spirit of God dwells in you.’
