Entrusting your life in the capable hands of God.
Is there a Divine hand of Providence that guides the steps of our lives? How are we to understand the circumstances of life that leave us speechless? Can we trace the hand of God during the chaotic times we live in? Some of these questions I used to ask myself during my twenties when my life was taking many unexpected turns that were scary to say the least. I was allowed to see firsthand how God can create order out of chaos and bring beauty out of the most lifeless of ashes!
Time and again, God would bring to my attention the word Weaver through miraculously appointed signs. He was teaching me the beauty and fierceness of trusting Him when nothing seemed to make sense. Little by little, I was allowed to see the breathtaking beauty of His weaving and how even the dark threads of life can become golden when touched by His hand. In a very powerful sense, I have learned to see God as The Weaver of my life, always at work, creating something utterly beautiful. Sometimes His hands are very hard to trace with our human eyes or understanding but the more we allow His Spirit to breathe upon our hearts, we are able to see that His hand is never idle. Not for a moment.
Weaving is not something we are too familiar with today but it is still practiced around the globe and I’ve seen a growing interest in it as a creative branch of the arts on the internet. Weavers take different colors of threads and work them with great precision in order to create exquisite designs. When we look at the bottom of an authentic rug for example, it is really hard to decipher what the design looks like on the right face. Same goes for anything that is worked together intricately to create a beautiful pattern through weaving. God is the Weaver of our lives and His designs are flawless. We so often cannot see the beauty of His work because we are looking from underneath His masterpiece but every now and again He allows us to see the magnificence of His creativity as He takes us behind the scenes. The more we allow His Spirit to give us the right perception of our circumstances, we will be able to see just how precise and breathtaking His weaving really is, until, one day, we will stand face to face with the finished product of our lives. What glorious that day will be when we will be able to understand so much more than we ever will be able to on this side of heaven!
Even before we are born, God weaves our bodies together in the darkness of our mother’s womb.
You formed my innermost being, shaping my delicate inside and my intricate outside, and wove them all together in my mother’s womb. I thank you, God, for making me so mysteriously complex! Everything you do is marvelously breathtaking. It simply amazes me to think about it! How thoroughly you know me, Lord!
Psalm 139:13-14 (The Passion Translation)
Sometimes, God’s most intricate work is done in those dark times of His Providence.
I love this translation because it shows so beautifully how God truly is The Weaver of our lives, from beginning to end. Maybe you’re finding yourself in overwhelmingly hard circumstances, but don’t lose heart! Trust that God’s hands are still weaving your life, no matter what things look like from your perspective. Never be afraid to entrust even the “loose” threads of your life into the capable hands of the Grand Weaver!
If you are in the deep shadows because of some strange, mysterious providence, do not be afraid. Simply go on in faith and love, never doubting. God is watching, and He will bring good and beauty out of all your pain and tears.

The shuttles of His purpose move
To carry out His own design;
Seek not too soon to disapprove
His work, nor yet assign
Dark motives, when, with silent tread,
You view some sombre fold;
For lo, within each darker thread
There twines a thread of gold.
Spin cheerfully,
Not tearfully,
He knows the way you plod;
Spin carefully,
Spin prayerfully,
But leave the thread with God.
