Bible Study (day 4)

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 (ESV)

God’s Word exposes us completely. We might not always realize it, but every time we read it, we breathe Its life into the lungs of our soul because it is living and active. It has the power to ‘cut us to the heart’ because it pierces deep within. It discerns the thoughts and intentions of the heart. We are completely exposed before God. Even the darkest of our hidden motives.

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16 (ESV)

What are we to do in the face of such a God? We are urged to confidently draw near to the throne of grace! God knows we struggle against our flesh daily but He sympathizes with our weaknesses and wants to give us mercy and grace so we can move past our inability and our sin. It takes a great deal of sincerity and vulnerability to open up to God about who we really are but it is well worth it! When you struggle, come to our merciful High Priest and you will find help in time of need!

I love Hebrews 4. The reason we can come to the throne with confidence is because Jesus is our sympathetic high priest

  2. Nice reflection. I love the reminder that Gods word is active and living. Thank you for this study!
