In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. Hebrews 5:7 (ESV)

Jesus knows what it’s like to be human. During His life on earth, He prayed with loud cries and tears to God. There must’ve been countless times when He prayed this way, imploring God to save Him from death. How hard it would be to know that soon you will have to suffer such a horrible death- carrying the sins of the whole world upon your shoulders! Jesus was also fully God and He wanted to do the Father’s will more than His own. The struggle was there but the victory was sure because He was fully surrendered to His Father. God heard him because of His reverence. We are also heard, even in the depth of our agonizing prayers but may we come in full respect before the Father. He could’ve spared Jesus the cross but God knows best. He is listening to your prayers and will answer according to His infinite wisdom, working out His blessed will. It is always what’s best for us. It never takes away but always gives so much more than we sacrifice.
