Abiding in righteousness

Outside of Your righteousness, God, there is nothing good. I get lost in the midst of my sin and depravity and the world around me threatens to suffocate my soul. You made me holy at the cross of Christ and the only way to remain in righteousness is to remain in Him. You’re teaching me to say ‘no’ to any thought of my flesh because you have conquered the sinful nature. You have given me authority- I no longer have to be a slave of my own thoughts, the devil’s influence, and the forceful pull of the world in which I live. I don’t have to be afraid- no matter how daring the whispers and how powerful the attacks. I will not bow to chaos and darkness. When I depend on You every second of every day, You give me such freedom and peace! You want me to tell you everything and to remain close to You in the mist of my own inability. I am also learning that I am responsible for the direction of my thoughts and actions and You expect me to surrender my will to You, allowing You to make me truly holy. It is not me striving for holiness but for Your voice and Your guidance that allow me to walk in the truest purity. Every dilemma is solved within me when I give myself to You fully. I can trust You with my tendency towards sin and my most secret weakness. You understand and receive me completely, as long as my heart is sincere and I long to change. I love You, Lord, for giving me the most beautiful gift of Your righteousness!
