Pour the oil of your life upon Jesus’ feet.

Our lives are like fragrance.

Each one of our lives carry a certain essence. Whether we realize it or not, we give off a certain aroma through the way we live and the person we are. If we are prideful, our lives leave behind the stench of the flesh but if we are humble, we carry the perfume of heaven.

Sometimes we want to do elaborate things for God and tend to think that our worship through praise or our words impress Him. What would you say if I would tell you that doing the hard thing by choosing obedience when it goes against your will, trusting God when it hurts, and choosing humility instead of pride, are things that weigh heavier in the eyes of a Holy God and they are like perfume to His nostrils?

David once prayed:

Let my prayer be counted as incense before You;

The lifting up of my hands as the evening offering.

Psalms 141:2 AMP

Even our prayers, when inspired by the Holy Spirit, can be a pleasing incense before God. How much more our lives, when we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us in all things? One powerful way of doing this is by praying in tongues as often as possible.

Just like the woman who kissed the feet of Jesus with her tears and anointed them with the expensive perfume she brought, will you do the same with your life? That woman was known as a sinner but her tears of repentance and her act of respect and affection moved Jesus, even though it offended some people. Sometimes, we might feel unworthy because of the sin in our lives but in those moments, Jesus is looking for the gesture of true repentance. That is the oil He seeks. As we allow Him to indwell us, we will become like fragrant oil poured over His blessed feet in utmost reverence.

    That’s such a beautiful and profound piece of writing! And you bring up such an important point – that sometimes, the most meaningful acts of worship are not necessarily the most extravagant or showy, but the simplest, most humble ones. Obeying God even when it’s difficult, trusting Him when it’s hard, and choosing humility over pride – those are all powerful ways to express our love and devotion to Him. And as you said, they can be like “perfume to His nostrils.

    God bless you.🙏😊
