Loving God more than we love ourselves.

So the Three broke through the Philistine camp and drew water from the well at the gate of Bethlehem. They brought it back to David, but he refused to drink it. Instead, he poured it out to the Lord. 1 Chronicles 11:18
When the Philistines were stationed in Bethlehem and David was in a stronghold, he longed to drink water from a certain well from Bethlehem. Three of his most valiant men went at once to fulfill his desire. When they came back and handed David the water he longed for, he simply refused to drink it. He was aware that his men risked their lives in order to bring him that water because the enemy was right there and they could’ve been caught. David poured the water out as a sacrifice to the Lord. It was something He desired greatly but he willingly gave it to God instead because He didn’t feel worthy to have it. That water was precious and he poured it out to God as a powerful act of sacrifice. What are the things we give God? Are we willing to pour out to Him the things that mean most to us? Our love for God is measured by the depth of our sacrifice. It shows how much He means to us.
