The perfect balance.

As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him. Psalm 103:13

We are drawn to images of God as a father. They give us hope in God’s compassion. For some, it is hard to see God as a father because their childhood gave them a distorted view of what a dad should be like. I myself love the fatherly side of God, probably because my father passed away. God is compassionate, more compassionate than we can imagine but this verse uncovers for us a startling truth we don’t necessarily think about in regards to this notion of God. It says that God has a father’s compassion for those who fear Him. God is not just a good father, He is also the authority figure that deserves our respect. Though He loves everyone like a father, He expects us to fear Him. I love this perfect balance of God’s character. Take a moment today to relate to God as the perfect Heavenly Father.
