A moment of stillness (81).

God’s words come to pass!

The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I watch over my word to accomplish it.” Jeremiah 1:12

Today’s devotional marks the beginning of the book of Jeremiah. I hope you will continue to be refreshed by God’s Word as He highlights verses throughout this book and gives us insight. In this verse, God showed Jeremiah an almond branch in order to make a point. The word for almond sounds like the Hebrew for watching. What a beautiful play of words! God is watching over the words He says in order to accomplish them. Jeremiah was young and inexperienced when God spoke to him about his calling but that didn’t keep God from carrying out His purpose in Jeremiah’s life. God’s Word is full of promises we can claim as we submit to God’s authority over our lives. Or maybe you have a personal Word you received from God through His prophets. Whatever the case, God’s words are never in vain. He is watching to make sure they come to pass at just the right time!
