Facing trials with confidence.
If you’re like me, you’ve probably wondered why we face so many troubles in this world. It’s easy to shy away from hard circumstances because we like to live comfortable lives, but we, as Christians, should face difficulty differently than the world does. The world doesn’t know true peace because they do not know Christ. When unbelievers face problems, they have nowhere to turn. Despair causes them to turn to anything that promises any kind of temporary peace. That’s why it’s so important that we showcase the peace we have in Christ to the world around us.
Since I’ve started my journey with God, my life has been anything but comfortable and I’ve learned that instead of resenting the discomfort, I can be empowered to embrace it. In this well known verse Jesus says, I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world (John 16:33 ESV). Christ did not call us to an easy path and He did tell us that we will have trials in this world but He goes on to say that we can be victorious in Him. He promises peace to those that trust in Him no matter the circumstances.
True peace is not found when the world is still. The test of our peace happens in the thick of chaos, when our lives seem to be spinning out of control. It is then that we can truly encounter the peace Jesus talked about. We can have peace in Him when we trust Him fully, no matter what is happening around us. He will not allow a trial in our lives without a definite purpose and without preparing a victorious outcome. I have seen throughout the years how God can turn even the things the enemy means for our destruction into abundant blessing. This is the confidence that I have as I face trials today, that the same God who proved Himself faithful until now will continue to be faithful. I can know true peace by knowing Christ. Take heart, He has overcome the world!
